About this property

Welcome to Hôtel Le Château de pierre

Hôtel Le Château de pierre is a colonial-style hotel located in the heart of Québec’s historic borough near Old Quebec, Battlefields Park, and a vibrant dining scene. The property offers traditional rooms, with some featuring private balconies, providing a quaint and comfortable stay within easy reach of many local attractions.

Guests can expect practical amenities including air conditioning and free Wi-Fi, though there is no on-site breakfast service, restaurant, parking, or fitness center. The hotel operates a virtual reception, requiring check-in via phone with access codes, and lacks an elevator, so carrying luggage upstairs is necessary. Some guests have noted the building’s age influences certain aspects such as smaller bathrooms and potential noise from neighboring rooms.

With a rating of 4.2 from over 300 reviews, comments highlight the hotel’s excellent central location and friendly, responsive management, though some caution is advised for light sleepers due to noise and the older structure. Visitors looking to explore nearby landmarks like Fairmont Le Château Frontenac, Quartier Petit Champlain, and The Citadelle of Québec will find the site a convenient base.

This property suits travelers who prioritize location and charm over modern luxury and expect a no-frills, authentic historic experience. Families are welcome, but the lack of accessibility features and elevator should be considered before booking.

This is a cute little hotel located in the city center right. Location was great! You can get a great view of the famous Fairmont Le Château Frontenac. There is no front desk and no elevator so you might have to walk upstairs with the luggages. Overall, we had a nice stay.

What a tremendous experience! Our room was bright and spacious and very clean. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable. The location can’t be beat, just steps from Dufferin. Best of all was the customer service. When we arrived, we had a little trouble with getting our door open. We texted them and they responded immediately. We tried a few more codes and finally realized the fault was ours - we just needed to push harder on the door. Nevertheless, they sent someone to make sure we had gotten in ok. Throughout our stay, we frequently interacted with the woman who managed the facilities. She was always friendly and helpful. She asked if we needed more espresso in the room and generously left a bunch. And she showed us the kitchen and private garden, both of which we enjoyed during our stay. We will be back!

This hotel exceeded our expectations in many ways. The location is absolutely fantastic — even better than we anticipated. While the building is older and some common areas could use a bit of updating, our room was a wonderful surprise: spacious, beautifully renovated, and very modern. It has a Nespresso machine! As it’s an older building, you can occasionally hear footsteps or movement from other guests, which didn’t bother us at all, but it might be something to consider if you’re a light sleeper. Although there isn’t staff on-site 24/7, communication was excellent, and everyone we did encounter was incredibly friendly, kind, and helpful. We had a great stay and would absolutely return. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area. Thank you for a lovely experience!

Stayed for one night. There is no reception, so you check in via a phone in the front vestibule and they then provide you codes to key into the hotel/your room. The interior was very charming - felt like staying over in a grandma's flat (in the best way possible :). You will need to carry your bags up the stairs as there is no elevator. Room was simple but had everything you could need. The location is still in the heart of old Quebec but enough off the beaten path that it felt slightly quieter. Lovely hotel!

Recently visited Quebec City and the Christmas market. We had a blast! Le Chateau de Pierre was a great hotel to stay at! It is right in Old Quebec and was in walking distance to everything for the Christmas market and the Frontenac! The room was cozy and had an old theme to it without feeling dirty or in need of a renovation. Before booking please do your research! I see a lot of reviews complaining about the old rooms and lack of staff on site which could have been prevented if those people did their research. The only issue I had with this hotel was the fact that the bathrooms were tiny and that due to the hotel being old if loud people are staying there you will hear them. All in all I really enjoyed my stay here and loved Quebec!

Hotel in a great location for touring old Québec! Just be aware they have a virtual reception - no person at the front desk; we communicated mostly by text and phone. And we were able leave our luggage in a corner of the lobby, which is monitored by camera and the hotel needs a door entry code so it felt secure. Also, rooms were modernized and air conditioned, but shower in ours was hard to enter or exit due to door proximity to the toilet seat. They have no elevator. And our room door easily let hallway noise in.

Hard to beat the location - a quiet slice of Vieux-Quebec and walkable to anywhere in the old town. The room was very nice. My only note - I'm 5'11", 180lbs. and the bathroom in the room was a very tight fit - granted, the room is in a building that is likely from the 1780's. Still, five stars. A great little spot.

My 5 stars are purely for the service I received. I raised a complaint on my first night here and the front desk reached out to me without delay, took my complaint seriously and moved me to a different hotel. Please note that these group of hotels are managed remotely with no actual person at the hotel. My complaint was raised through messages and emails and it was handled the same way. I would like to mention the tean who handled my case, James, and Pier Olivier, thank you again for your prompt and thoughtful service. They even followed up the next day to ensure that my concerns were put to rest with the resolution of the issue
